The Daimyo

This character is part of a corporate war waged in Neo-Edo to serve as both a militia with a sort of Yakuza background.

This project experiments with concepting in both 2D and 3D with the goal to have a model ready for handover. I also wanted to have presentable keyframes to sell his personality. I also wanted to continously iterate on the design so that I’d never stop exploring.

These sketches explore the relationship between militia and yakuza, trying find a sweet spot. I was at first really attatched to the deployed shield-arm but had to ditch it since I felt that it took too much attention. Some options were more apparent in their samurai influence, which I still like a lot!

This pose above was inspired by the Turkish Olympian shooter. His self-confidence felt really fitting.

This second pose focuses on the “secure” keyword that I chose, imagining that the character is good at moving or smuggling goods and important assets.

The classic a-pose is where I tried to create some materials in Keyshot and seeing if I could add interesting patterns to the clothing.

A fairly simple SMG made in Zbrush, researched a bit of new and old prototype ideas on the web to find something cool.

After I blocked out the character in Zbrush, I opened up Photoshop to sketch over it to see how the 2D design could translate. Solving some visual questions.
